Blackwater River Run
Follow the Blackwater River from its source at the gorgeous Lough Brin along its short course to the ocean. Here we invite you to mix relaxation with adventure. We suggest you pack a picnic before setting off for Lough Brin, nestled in the hills 18 kilometres from Sneem. Here you can take a dip in the lake to cool off or simply take in the majestic surrounds, before making your way a short distance back along the main road, where you’ll see a sign for Blackwater Bridge (5km). This country lane turns into a stunning riverside cycle with a beautiful fishing area on the banks of the river to settle down for a picnic, and another chance to dip your toes. The route continues on to Blackwater Bridge where you head west for Sneem, but not before swinging down to Blackwater pier to see where the river completes its journey to the sea, and a last chance to have that swim! The final leg brings you to Tahilla Church, where you take a left to enjoy the beautiful and peaceful Rossdohan loop and as you return to base in Sneem.
